More birds of prey studies here, the Red-shouldered Hawk and the Red-tailed Hawk. Hawks have a lot of different color variations, it can be difficult to identify them. To the inexperienced birder around here, the question is often... "Red-shouldered or Red-tailed?"
Also, there is an incorrect fact about the Red-tailed Hawk above. Although my Audubon guidebook stated the Red-tailed Hawk as the largest in the United States, they recently informed me that it is the largest hawk in FLORIDA and the largest hawk in the United States is actually the Ferruginous Hawk.
