This morning I was lured outside by a Brown Thrasher outside the window. It was the first one I'd seen in the yard here so I went to check it out. Surprisingly it seemed to be building a nest as it was going about with sticks and there was a lot of ruckus in the palmetto bush.
This brought me to taking a walk. There is a dead pine in the neighbors cow pasture that the American Kestrel likes to sit on so I took a look with my binoculars and then this little one flew in:
My first Red-headed Woodpecker! Not a great photo as the tree is quite far off in the pasture, but proves a definite ID on the bird.
