Sandhill Crane Nesting.
February/March is Sandhill Crane nesting season in Central Florida, and every year I enjoy watching them. Here is a Crane on a nest at a local park, February 18th: This year I noticed a nest in some wetlands in walking distance of my home, and was able to keep a closer eye on it and catch the chicks when they were still in the nest (March 7th). Sandhill Crane update.
These Sandhill Crane chicks... ...they grow so fast!! I went on vacation for a week and when I returned I found only one chick. And, now at 3 weeks old, it is much bigger!

My Bird Nest No. 36 is the Sandhill Crane. The nest is made of embroidery floss and dried flowers. Here we have some Sandhill Crane's that are about a week old. I have visited them twice now, and I already want to see them again. The cuteness is too much!

The beautiful Sandhill Crane's are common around here. I love Spring, when the pairs start nesting and turning up with adorable little yellow chicks. Then you get to watch them grow all Spring and Summer. Of course the first few weeks are the best, I could watch these babes all day...
