Here are some photos from Black Point Drive at Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. Not too much activity from the birds in the middle of the day, but what a nice way to spend the afternoon before a big Thanksgiving dinner!
Birdhouse craft.
I felt like I needed some more dimensional things on my wall, so I made a little birdhouse. I made the pieces out of cardboard, covered it in scraps from an old book and painted it with a light wash of blue paint (watercolor). It was very thick after this so I drilled holes in it with my handy Fiskers hand drill, so I could then lace the pieces together with cotton twine. I used a twig for the perch. Orlando Wetlands.
Florida was struck with a marvelous cold front after a very rainy night Thursday. Yesterday was the coldest day since March, according to the news. My apartment is pretty chilly at 66. Many blankets and cups of warm drinks are welcome! I was very very thankful to be off of work this weekend to enjoy the beautiful weather! My friend Marissa and I went to the Orlando Wetlands Park. It is an amazing place for birding!! Many herons, egrets, ibis, wood storks, anhingas, loads of ducks, and maybe too many vultures. Those vultures were a bit scary to pass on...
