The Little Nuthatch — field guide paintings
Warblers.
Here are some darling little warblers! They are easy to hear, but a lot harder to see... get some binoculars and look in the very tops of the trees. Now I am painting sandpipers and plovers...30+ of them, it might be a while!!
Ducks, part two.
Continuing to paint all the birds from the MINWR list, I finished the ducks!! I feel like the ducks are one of the easier families to identify. I was thrilled this week when I saw some birds from far away but knew they were Northern Shoveler's, and could tell a Ring-necked Duck from a Lesser Scaup. Now, not to boast because there are a couple ducks I saw out there last weekend that I still need to place, and even for the Shoveler (which is an easy one) I had to check the book to be sure. But I am...
Crows, jays, mockingbird, thrasher, blackbirds.
My latest painting. I am on the look out for a Florida Scrub Jay.
Carolina Mountain birds.
Here is a painting I did a little while ago and gave my parents for Christmas. They are the permanent resident song birds for Asheville, North Carolina.
Gulls and Terns, part 1.
Here are some Gulls and Terns. This is only half of them... and they all look the same!! Yeah, I might have thought that with the hawks and the sparrows but it got worse!! I don't think I will EVER be able to identify these guys in the wild. Maybe just the Black Tern!
