The Little Nuthatch — sandwich tern
Sand Key Park.
american oystercatcher brown pelican sand key park sandwich tern
Last month I had a craft show in St. Pete and headed to Sand Key Park for a bit of birding and a peaceful walk at the beach to unwind before the long drive home. I also had a beach picnic of take out from Love Food Central, a delicious vegan restaurant in St. Pete. Lots of birds, and so many fledgelings screaming at their parents and being ignored, ha! Love those shy Oystercatchers!
Beach sunset.
Following my day at Myakka River State Park, I headed to the beach at Casey Key for the sunset. There were many birds there, including my first Florida sighting of a Magnificent Frigatebird (no photo)- not so unheard of but they'd been eluding me! Also the first time I had seen Manatees in the ocean, while I am used to seeing them in the rivers and springs, it was sure cool to see them playing in the waves in the water that was positively dazzling in the light of the setting sun!
