The Little Nuthatch
Fern Animals!
My new fern animal friend arrived today! (UPDATE: Fern Animals were made by Ashley Brown Durand, now known for Secret Holiday). I got my first one (with the beard) at Renegade Brooklyn last June. I now have four... I love them all so much!! I rarely buy things that aren't practical, but these just feel so special and totally worth it.
A few photos, days off.
I had the last five days off. It's been a long time since I had more than two days off so this was glorious! The first day I hung out with my friends, but the other four I just stayed home and was super productive on art. I got to enjoy cooking, and spending time with my cats- you know how much they appreciate when you're home because they won't leave you alone! I only got in my car twice, to go to the grocery store for strawberries, and to go on a hike. Yes, a hike-- you don't know...
Painting bird nests.
Here are some paintings I did back in October. They wouldn't scan without ridiculous shadows so I had to wait to photograph them. Not the best photos, but it's better than nothing- basically I was tired of waiting. I love these paintings! So many possibilities! I'm envisioning many more, with a variety of little trinkets in their nests. The first one is 9x12 and the others are 5x7. I plan to list the smaller ones on etsy.
Visiting Etoile, and playing outside.
Last night I headed downtown to Etoile Boutique (vintage and handmade items) with a bundle of new cards and stationery to sell. They had relocated since I last went there, and I like the new location a lot- the store is adorable with some great decor and colors. Photos from the weeks mushroom hunting and adventures outside follow.
Avocet card. Valentine's!
I've been working on a new card design, in time for Valentine's. The initial idea was my Mom's so I must give her credit. The bird is the avocet. It was cool because I did not even know this bird came to Florida, but I chose it because they are cute and rather striking- then at the birding trail several landed just in front of me! In winter they are only black and white, without the orange/brown.
