Birds of Prey: Snail Kite.
Here is my birds of prey study of the Snail Kite. I love these birds that are unique to Florida! We are fortunate in Central Florida to sometimes see these endangered birds at Viera Wetlands and Orlando Wetlands.
Autumn is here!
It is fall! I have fresh-baked pumpkin bread and a new episode Downton Abbey to watch. It's a lovely day! Of course it is Florida so we are *just* getting back to the 80s with a high of 89! But the feeling of fall is definitely in the air and I look forward to many hikes and bike rides ahead.
Inspirational Artists I grew up on... Irene Haas.
I love The Maggie B by Irene Haas. I looked up Irene Haas online, and found some more beautiful books, but no information on the artist. Her watercolors are so different, as a watercolor artist I find a lot of inspiration in this book and looking at how she paints. The point that they are in a dark boat comes across, but it's still so colorful!
Totoro, Totoro.
My Neighbor Totoro is my favorite Ghibli film. The story is so heartwarming, sweet, and magical. I can imagine being Mei and Satsuki, the scene where they sprout their seeds into trees just seems so... possible. I love it! So, I decided it was time to paint Totoro. If I find the time, I'll do more, but I started with Totoro napping. And this was a great reason to watch Totoro like three times while painting! The print is also available in the shop.
ElfQuest love!
I've posted about ElfQuest before, it's my favorite comic book and what got me into comics, followed by anime. I first read it when I was 9, and immediately started drawing my own elf characters.
