The Little Nuthatch
North Carolina: Blannahassett Island.
Here are some photos from the island in Marshall, NC. This is an island in the middle of the river, there is an old high school there that are now artist studios, and a nice park. I enjoy walking around the island and bird watching. This year the river was very high, and there were a lot less birds. Last year I saw a lot of flycatchers and kingbirds, but none this year. The geese are fun though! Oh, and mulberries for picking!
Inspirational Artists I grew up on...
I have posted about inspirational artists before. Artists that inspire me today, and artists that have inspired and influenced me throughout my life... I thought it time to go back to the very beginning and share some illustrations from my childhood picture book collection. Surely this is where it all started, with these books so worn down with love. Many more to come!
North Carolina: little creatures.

Bird Nest originals.
After many requests, I've finally got some of my original Bird Nest paintings up for sale. They are framed and ready to hang. I think of all the paintings I do, the Bird Nests are the best to have originals of because the little objects in the nest are so cool in person. They are in the shop!
Summertime at Merritt Island NWR.

I spent an afternoon at Merritt Island NWR a few weeks ago. I was really trying to go to the beach but sadly learned they close the beach off at 4:30 instead of sunset now. Closing a beach in the afternoon during Summer in Florida seems crazy to me, but okay. I went birdwatching instead! I love this time of year because you can see all ages of Black-necked Stilts and Green Herons- from fledgelings to birds still on the nest with eggs. While the nests are hard to photograph and better viewed with binoculars, here are a few photos...
