Looked around some books & websites, but what type of caterpillar is this? Not sure... Love all the little critters out right now!
A few photos here from a short trip to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Sometimes you don't have time for the full day excursion but a little trip is certainly something to be grateful for!
Today I share some photos from a beautiful sunny day at Oscar Scherer State Park (Osprey, FL), and Fort De Soto Park.
I went to Myakka River State Park near Sarasota, FL back in Dec 2013 and posted about it. I just visited again and it was lovely to visit at a different time of year, but my photos are for the most part the same subjects... epiphytes, lichen, and weathered trees are the beauties at Myakka. And of course, their wonderful canopy walk that provides a gorgeous view and close looks at the blooming air plants.
Florida Scrub Land is a quickly dwindling habitat. I am very sad to say the land in these photos will be bulldozed... but I am happy for the people that care, the people that are going out and trying to save the plants and wildlife there. Last Wednesday was one of those days spent digging up endemic plants to be taken to a carefully selected location where they will hopefully grow and thrive. I took these photos in between digging plants.
