Following my day at Myakka River State Park, I headed to the beach at Casey Key for the sunset. There were many birds there, including my first Florida sighting of a Magnificent Frigatebird (no photo)- not so unheard of but they'd been eluding me! Also the first time I had seen Manatees in the ocean, while I am used to seeing them in the rivers and springs, it was sure cool to see them playing in the waves in the water that was positively dazzling in the light of the setting sun!

Spring at Myakka River State Park.

I went to Myakka River State Park near Sarasota, FL back in Dec 2013 and posted about it. I just visited again and it was lovely to visit at a different time of year, but my photos are for the most part the same subjects... epiphytes, lichen, and weathered trees are the beauties at Myakka. And of course, their wonderful canopy walk that provides a gorgeous view and close looks at the blooming air plants.

I spy some Bobwhite.

It is not unusual to hear the call of the Bobwhite Quail around here in the morning or evening, but a rare treat to see them!     I saw this couple in a pasture towards dusk.
