The Little Nuthatch
Along the Econlockhatchee.
Took a nice 5.6 mile hike through the Little Big Econ State Forest (Lockwood/Barr) on this warm winter day. Many of the trails in the forest follow along the Econlockhatchee River, with a variety of terrain. There are often wild pigs in the forest which can be a nuisance, but luckily we saw no sign of them today! Just birds and turtles! At one point I noticed these burrows in the riverbank across the way. What lives in there?
Afternoon walk time.
What to take photos of when there are no birds around? Hmmm... Those baby pine trees are my favorite, so cute sprouting up everywhere.
Silly birds.
Sometimes when you are taking a photo of a bird it decides to fly away, fluff it's feathers, or do something otherwise awkward. When I come home and start going through the photos from a bird watching trip, sometimes I just say "wha...?"
Spoonie.
Here is a little painting of a Roseate Spoonbill. The Roseate Spoonbill is not an uncommon sight when bird watching in Florida, but I never tire of seeing them. They are cool to watch feeding, as they swing about their spoonbills in the water. They get their pink color from their food, just as flamingos do. They do some nesting in Florida, I hope to get out and see that this Spring!
Inspirational Artists: Yoshitsugi
Sekitou is the website of Japanese artist Yoshitsugi. It must have been 10 or more years since I first found this artist. I love the unique use of white space with vibrant colors and texture... Please check out the website Sekitou for more.
