Flowers are blooming and the trees have filled out. Things are looking lush and beautiful! Also, I almost stepped on a Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake. But it's all good! You never know what critters you will find out there- watch your step!
Inspirational Artists I grew up on... Richard Scarry.
Back to inspirational artists, these are the two Richard Scarry books from my childhood collection- What Do People Do All Day? and Great Big Schoolhouse. Is my love for these books part of the reason I love to categorize things such as in my field guide art prints?
Happy Easter.
Happy Easter!
Bird Nest No. 37: Swainson's Warbler.
My bird nest painting no. 37 is a Swainson's Warbler. This was a request and I am happy to oblige. The Swainson's Warbler, although brown and not so colorfully striking as many warblers are, is a very elegant bird. They hide away and are difficult to sight, but easier to hear singing. Their nests are well camouflaged. I used old postage stamps for the leaves here, and more in the nest, as well as pins, string, and yarn.

Here are some more photos from my week of camping at Little Talbot Island. However, these photos are from Big Talbot Island. On Big Talbot I rode the beautiful new bike trail, explored The Bluffs, Black Rock trail, Big Pine trail, and Old King's Highway. Old King's Highway was boring, I didn't even take any photos. But all the other trails were spectacular!! At the end of Black Rock trail it is like you've walked upon a shipwreck. What a sight of erosion and trees in the water. The Big Pine trail has some big pine trees, but more so...
